Complete transformation of an existing, dark face-brick, three bed house with complicated sense of arrival, disjointed circulation and narrow internal staircase into a light filled, contemporary five bed family home with effortless flow and magnificent connection to the outdoors. The upper level creaking wood floors were replaced with concrete, raised to provide higher ceilings in living areas below and extended to create additional bedrooms and bathrooms at this level. The street entrance now connects clearly via a welcoming double volume staircase to the living areas below. A floor to roof spectacular vertical slot window and skylight invites views of the mountain in.
The kitchen island takes centre stage in the open plan living, with direct flow to dining and outdoor terrace with sea views beyond, landscaped courtyard to one side and family room to the other. The outdoor covered terrace, with panoramic sea and mountain views, extends seamlessly from the living areas, is sheltered from the prevailing southeaster winds and overlooks the existing pool and deck below.
